M. Maurice Manning, Secretary
Maurice is a Partner and Head of the Litigation Department at Nunes Scholefield DeLeon & Co. His core practice is civil litigation in the Supreme Court and Court of Appeal. His primary practice areas include commercial disputes and breach of contracts, personal injury, property disputes, libel, estate disputes, construction contracts, division of matrimonial property and telecommunications. He also gives general advice and opinions to insurance companies, banks and other commercial and real estate clients. Most recently, he appeared before the Privy Council in March 2014.
Maurice was called to the Bar in 1993 after excelling at the Norman Manley Law School and collecting prizes in each year of study. He was elected to the Bar Council of the Jamaican Bar Association in April 2010 and has been Assistant Secretary since April 2011. Since September 2005 he has been an Associate Tutor of Civil Procedure and Practice II, a final year course taught at the Norman Manley Law School. Between 1992 and 1996, he taught Business Law at the University of Technology (UTECH).
